So this week my family and I decided to spend some time camping.
I have to be honest; I’m not the biggest fan of roughing it. I mean, it’s not like I’m a wimp or anything; I’m just a fan of modern conveniences – bathrooms, showers in the home, and ice-cold drinks.
One of the things that frustrate me with camping is always having to buy ice.
USING A COOLER CAMPING
Now, we do have a cooler, and it works well (this is the Yeti Cooler that bought from Amazon), but for the food not to spoil, you have to keep it filled with ice all of the time. No matter how good your cooler may be, ice will still eventually melt.
Don’t get me wrong; I do enjoy camping. I enjoy getting away from the busyness of life and relaxing for a spell. Camping is a great time for our family to play games and put the electronics away.
Camping has it’s perks. Also, I’m not just talking about going camping in a tent, but also an RV or spending time in a boat. These are all great times to enjoy the sunshine and get away from the pressures of life.
THE BEST WAY TO CAMP
I’m just saying there must be a better way to make camping a little more . . . comfortable.
My son is enjoying some sun while Camping. I love bringing cold drinks to the pool and watching our children play.
When you’re camping, the price of ice can really begin to add up. It’s about $6 for 5 lbs of ice, and depending on the size of cooler, it can take several bags of ice a day.
What I am about to say may not be a conventional camping method, but using an ice maker when you’re camping can help you in two important ways:
A PORTABLE ICE MAKER WILL SAVE YOU MONEY WHEN YOU GO CAMPING
First, it saves you money because you don’t have to keep buying ice. Most portable ice makers will produce 26 lbs of ice every day. Every time the ice bucket is full, pour the ice into your cooler. This makes sure that your cooler is always full of ice and that your food will not spoil.
We had water and electric hookup at our camping site, so having a portable ice maker only made sense. We made about 20-30 lbs of ice each day, and this made keeping everything cold a breeze.
RELAXING BY THE POOL
Secondly, having a portable ice maker is great for keeping your drinks cold during those hot days of summer.
When you’re in a tent (on a boat or in an RV), it can get blazing hot. It’s great to be able to go by the pool with a cold drink and watch your kids enjoy the summer heat.
These accessories are normally small to carry and light for transport. It doesn’t cost a lot of money to purchase these small appliances for your camping trip, but the payoff is huge.
You are not going to regret that decision; that’s for sure.
