If you are like me and you love your Opal Nugget Ice Maker, then you’re really going to love what is coming next.

Opal has been working hard to improve an already awesome product.

There are great features that the Opal Nugget Ice Maker offers nugget-ice lovers. The ability to make soft, chewable nugget ice from a compact, efficient and affordable ice maker is why people keep purchasing this great unit.

There are some downsides to purchasing a smaller nugget ice maker – a small water tank (2.4 L), and not having the ability to connect to a waterline is one of them.

When there is a high demand for nugget ice, you’ll find yourself feeding the unit a lot of water.

This can be frustrating when you come back to your unit only to notice that it has run out of water!

This why Opal created this awesome accessory for our Opal Nugget Ice Makers – the Opal Side Tank.

Let’s take a moment and review the Opal Side Tank and see what it’s all about, and if it’s a product that you should purchase for a companion for your Opal Ice Maker.

Easy and Convenient

The Opal Side Tank gives you one more gallon of water for Opal Ice Maker which allows you to create 3X more ice than just using the original tank.

Opal Side Tank Attachment Review

According to our experience, this new attachment is easy to operate. All you have to do is fill the tank, flip it back into its home base and then connect the tube into the back. Done!

The point of this extra tank is that you can forget about the constant water trips and enjoy more of that great nugget ice when you need it.

We found that this tank worked seamlessly with the Opal Nugget Ice Maker. The setup was simple and we had it working within a couple of minutes. We also noticed the effect of this side tank right away – you spend less time filling it up with water.

Beautiful Design

The Opal Side Tank is beautifully designed like the Opal Ice Maker.

The Opal Ice Maker Attachment: The Side Tank

It uses powerful magnets to attach to the base, and best of all it beautifully compliments the original ice maker – it looks like it was purchased with the Side Tank already included.

I love the stainless-steel design, and the sleek, compact design of this unit. Yet, better than the design of the Opal Ice Maker and the new Opal Side Tank is the awesome nugget ice that it produces.

The Cost

The Opal Side Tank will cost just a little less than $70. Is it worth the price? Absolutely!

I do believe that the $70 is a great price for the ability to have more water and less trips to get water.

It solves a big problem with portable ice makers and that is the constant filling up the water reservoir with water. The best solution would be to produce an unit that has the ability to add a water line for constant water supply, but this side tank is a great second option.

It works great and you’ll love it.

My Overall Thoughts

Reviewing this product, I believe that it’s going to be a great extension for our Opal Ice Maker. Having the ability to make 3x more ice without having to run to refill the tank every 3 hours is going to make the Opal Side Tank worth the $70 investment.

If you have an Opal Ice Maker than you need this Side Tank and if you are looking to purchase an Opal Nugget Ice Maker then you need to grab the Opal Side Tank as well!

  1. After cleaning my new tank with mild soapy water I see sudsy water between the lid (where the magnets are located) and the tank. Is the lid removable so I can dry it out?

    • To answer your question about the side tank, the piece I believe you are referring to is not a removable part.
